Sail details
There are sugested details on the Wee Nip drawing provided which will work fine however there are a few variations depending on what materials you use for mast & boom construction the series of pictures shown here are just a couple of the ways we have found to rig the sails.
red Rooster

Head Detail
Red Rooster uses 6mm carbon tube and Peter Jackson attaches the foresail at the top of the mast and then ties it back lower down. Sheep Dip has an 8mm aluminium tube mast and the mast was drilled and a wire hook bent and added to carry the foresail rigging. Both yachts have a wire backstay crane. |

Gooseneck
Red Rooster's Gooseneck is as per the plan with two split pins through the mast and wire hooks over each, note that the downhaul tension on the main is not adjustable. Sheep Dip has a smaller Gooseneck with a composite Carbon tube/Aluminium Boom, it also goes through two split pins in the mast however it is bent into a triangle. Note also the downhaul for the main sail (bottom left of picture) |

Main Sheet
Red Rooster has a wire attachment for the main at the tack and a simple silicon tube (fuel line) adjuster through a splitpin for the sheet. Sheep Dip uses two 5.6mm grommets to give a fine adjustment to the sail twist as well as the sail shape at the foot. The sheet again passes through a split pin and is then adjusted by means of a bowsie, the tape stops the weight of the bowsie affecting the sail in light winds. |

Foresail Attachment
Both Yachts have a leach line to lift the foot of the foresail at the tack. Red Rooster uses a wire to attach the tack and the adjustment for the sheet is similiar to the main. Sheep Dip has a grommet to attach & adjust the foresail and again a bowsie & two split pin arrangement for the sheet adjustment. |

Foresail Pivot
Red Rooster is simply attached to deck with a line and the tension adjustment is done using the luff line & the mast backstay. Sheep Dip has a downhaul on the foresail pivot, the picture should show a grommet to attach the front sail adjuster but it isn't there. the extended aluminuim tube contains a tiny amount of lead to balance the sail weight. |
