Hollowell Open day

The Abington Park Model Yacht Club were invited to give a demonstration at the Hollowell Sailing Club's Open Day. We set the buoys using our new found Power Boat 2 Certificates with the Club's Honwave Inflatable. There was some confusion with communications from bank to inflatable, the lesson learnt there was to remember to take a radio with us next time. Needless to say the rest of the sailors were watching our antics with amusement.

The object of the day was to act as ambassadors for the club and to get as many people as possible to enjoy the act of sailing and racing on a triangle and sausage course. We were kept busy all day and we thank the members for turning out and allowing people to have a go with their Wee Nips.

The weather was gorgeous with the occasional heavy rain shower, however there was little wind at times which made teaching model sailing a little more difficult.

It was quite interesting to see harden full size sailors trying to sail our boats, which on the whole they found some difficulty with, although it may be said with a little more practice they would become very good.

Bacon butties were served mid way through the morning and we provided a hamburger at lunch for all our club members.

I think everyone returned home completely shattered, but felt that it was a day well spent.
