wee Nip Medal Competition - Round 4

19th April 2014

Our thanks go to Mike Ewart who dropped out of racing to allow the rest of us race as a single fleet which was very kind of him as I am sure he would have rather been on the water racing.

Report by Mike Ewart.

We started off at Two Islands with 15 skippers looking forward to a nice springs days sailing, the wind was in a nice direction and there was enough of it to make it interesting, but Spring it wasn't, sailing in one fleet required a dedicated RO so Mike dropped out.

Cliff Paskell-Jefferie svisiting from Doncaster Club CADMA got too cold in the first race so he couldn't feel his hands and dropped out, Brian Hawkins lasted a little longer but boat troubles put him out, Keith Jackson burnt out a servo and then took over 101 from Cliff.
Peter Shepherd also had a change of boat when 65 had to be rescued with terminal problems, through it all a small group were consistently at the front of the fleet with Keith Coxon, Paul Risdale this time sailing Pinwinnie 54 ( when he went the right way round the course) John Simmons who turned up to watch and borrowed Paul's 53 Pig's Nose and Trevor Thomas 58 Glendower.

The racing was very good natured with penalties being largly self administered and completed as required which keeps the racing friendly and yet at the same time competitive, the  scoring was close throughout the fleet a real one design type of racing, the results were Keith Coxon, John Simmons, Paul Risdale and Trevor Thomas in that order, a good day out was had by all, testament to the sailability of the Wee Nip.
