The Wee Nip Competition Series has moved to Two Islands RYC for the second round of three summer rounds all at this venue.
The sun was bright and beautiful with a pleasant wind unfortunately not the best of directions and a little variable but operating on the principle that's what we have got the racing proceeded.
We had a fairly long beat to the first windward mark and then a long run to the leeward mark followed by a smaller triangle before the finish, during the the day one course change was made to keep the triangle as a beat reach and run. We nearly had a few changes of the start line but the wind was favouring both ends of the line at times during the day. |

The master of consistency throughout the day was
Jon Simmons in 71, mostly good starts in the middle of the line but
particular good first and second beats he was certainly higher and
quicker on the windward legs than most of the rest.
Geoff Raygada 57, made a number of good starts favouring the port enders most of the day and this paid off well for him.

Keith Coxon had some difficulties early on with the set up on his new rig, but got it sorted out and had some good races, It can be seen that behind Jon there was a lot of chopping and changing in position throughout the day, a poor start or poor first leg was very difficult to overcome, and there were a number of times when a patch of doldrums wreaked havoc approaching the finishing line.It is very noticeable that this year there is much less difference between the skippers than the previous 2 years of Wee Nip racing, a quite marked improvement of standards, well done.
John Simmons consolidates his lead in front of Keith Coxon in the 2015 Medal Competition and it is hard to see anyone getting in amongst these two although there is still time for someone (Paul Risdale) to put in a late challenge.
