wee Nip Medal Competition - Round 2

22nd February 2014

We finally got to complete the first Wee Nip Medal Competition at Two Islands  RYC, this time the wind built gradually throughout the day, the direction from over the houses made the route to the windward mark a tricky one to master.
Peter Jackson and Red Rooster did this with the most skill and looked like a winner all day, which only goes to show that if you "build it like the plan" it works fine. Paul Risdale sailing Pig's Nose pushed PJ all the way with both skippers finishing on 36 points before discards.

It was a most enjoyable days sailing with many of the skippers further down the standings popping up to record good placings or wins, this meant the racing throughout the fleet was close. Four new boats were on the water for the first time in competition, Isle of Man with Bob Lamb at the helm was the best of these however the other three, Colin Davies (Blackadder), Peter Woods (Mortlach) and Richard Dolman (Drambuie) all acquitted themselves well I am sure further into the season they will catch up with the skippers who sailed in 2013.
Trevor Thomas (Glendower) and Alan Smedley (Glengoyne) deserve a special mention both were sailing very well Trevor took a race victory and Alan is starting to get to grips with radio sailing both keeping Peter Shepherd (Sheep Dip) honest for his third place.
Thanks to Mike Ewart for all his efforts in running the event, both this time and last week and to all the Two Island members who took a turn at filling in the scorecard.
