2015 - wee Nip Medal Competition - Round 7
15th August 2015
report Peter Shepherd
The final round of the Wee Nip Competition Series to be held at Two Islands RYC this year, we were once again blessed with some very pleeasent summer sunshine.
The wind came along the lake from the Northwest, this enabled us to set quite a sizeable course out to the West Island, a long run into the East Bay a short spreader and then back upto the first mark via a dogleg to provide a greater number of tacking battles.
The wind stayed with us so we continued with the same course throughout the day. |

Early on Keith Coxon (55, Glen Keith) traded places with Jon Simmons (71, Dimple) as Jon struggled to come to terms with the first beating leg. Geoff Raygada (57, Black Prince) was going well with a very bright start.
Further back the usual mid fleet battle was in progress with Peter Shepherd (101, Black & White), Peter Jackson (30, Red Rooster), Paul Risdale (53, Pigs Nose) and Mike Ewart (36, Ardmore) all trying to sneak an advantage somewhere.

Behind the mid fleet group was a the small but very select band also engaged in perhaps the most important battle of the event, not to come last.
It was pretty close but three skippers, Tim Leese (93, Arran) Tom Steel, (86, Johnnie Walker) and Richard Doleman (48, Drambuie) all finished within 10 points of each other having pulled away from Peter Wood (39, Stag's Breath)
Peter Shepherd broke away from the Mid Fleet battle in the afternoon with a bit of a change to his sail set up however try as he might he couldn't overhaul Geoff Raygada, however he was happy to get amongst the leading two.
The 2015 Medal Competition goes largely unchanged although Geoff's good result here moves him up a couple of places.
The next Wee Nip Medal Challange is our second visit to Emberton Country Park on September 19th.
