wee Nip Medal Competition - Round 10

11th October 2014

Report by Peter Shepherd

Eleven skippers today with the winds very light we waited as log as we were able before we started.
Surprisingly there was enough wind to get things started quite early on with the best winds of the day coming towards the end.
Just a short course because of the conditions with two upwind legs when the wind blew from the direction predicted each race taking about 10 minutes.

John Simmons (17 Pinch) coped with conditions the best winning five races but in the top two or three for most of the others this consistency being enough to finish with just 19 points.
Mike Ewart (36 Ardbeg) came second again with some consistent finishes however just not as consistent ant John.
Third position was very hotly contested with four skippers all finishing within ten points of each other. Alan Smedley (77 Glencoyne) coming third just beating Peter Jackson (30 Red Rooster) on count back.
Paul Risdale (53 Pig's Nose) was next followed by Peter Shepherd who was careful not to beat Paul having borrowed his boat 54 Pinwinnie after a servo failure in Black & White.
Geoff Raygada (39 Stag's Breath) was close to being in the third place battle as well having a notable win in race seven.
Thanks to the other skippers who came out to play on a day which was far from ideal for racing especially Dave Alexander with his nicely finished (98 Alexander Dunn)  at his first event. We look forward to seeing you all again at the next event.
